R AM and FM reception is poor. Most of the radios that were produced tossed out years ago or are already installed in cars. Finding a real deal original 1971 Mustang AM FM Stereo radio today is quite task. The preset buttons work.

AM FM radios were quite rare options in the 1960s and early 1970's, especially on less expensive cars like Mustangs. This radio would also fit a 1972-73 Mustang however only the 1971 model's had small nomenclature MUSTANG stenciled on dial. I recently tested it and determined to be in poor working condition see below. Don't miss this real deal factory AM FM Stereo radio.

All set and change stations nicely. Since this radio does not appear to have been serviced for quite some time I will sell it as is. Color of the dial numbers and pointer is sharp. Overall cosmetic appearance is excellent, clean and all original.

It receives stations across the AM and FM dial however sound quality reception is very weak garbled needs to be improved. Not very many were made due to the high cost of option and limited amount FM stations in non urban areas. It comes complete with a set of original inner and outer control knobs in excellent condition. The Formic engineering number on the side is D1ZA-19A241 1FBZX.

Stereo indicator light does work. Dial illumination light works. Tuner can be manually tuned across the dial with no slipping. Also included are the shaft mounting nuts.

Bass and Treble control works. Power and speaker pigtails have some splices. The clear plastic dial is not scratched, cracked or cloudy. Suitable for a show car.

Chrome on the slide bar is nice. Slide bar toggles freely between AM and FM bands.
