What happens to them is that they still light up, but the little red lens has fallen out. This cool little red Pilot lamp assembly was also installed on floor console panel, in front of the 5 fresh air and heater control cable knobs. Red dash Pilot lamps are extremely rare and were manufactured for avanti motors new car production.

I have parts for 1963 avanti, 1964 1965 1966 1967 1968 1969 1970 1971 1972 1973 1974 1975 1976 1977 1978 1979 1980 1981 1982 1983 1984 1985 and some 1987 up avanti. They only sold them as an assembly. This is the little red light that becomes illuminated when you turn ignition switch on then turns off after engine starts.
