For regular cleaning, cleansers that are suitable glass a good choice - just make sure they chloride free, as chlorides damaging to stainless steel.
Maintenance treat your new heat shield as you would rolls Royce grill shell. Dip stick your may need to be adjusted so that it stays in place. Do not remove the protective cover film at this time carefully place new heat shield in and line up holes.
Do not over tighten the brass nuts. I have not had any problem with mine. Remove the dip stick bracket it will not be reused. Tools needed 7 16 inch deep well socket flat blade screw driver preparation in the photo, four nuts that are to be removed designated white.
I have been cleaning mine by removing it.
I rinse the shield off in sink and that remove most of abrasive particles. Tighten the bolts until shield is solid. It only takes about five minutes to remove. Ed-40 can be used and allowed to sit for 30 minutes or so.
Check for fit. Carefully remove the nuts and washers. Using a flat bladed screw driver, adjust it as shown in the photo. If you are satisfied with the alignment, remove heat shield.
Installation place the new bracket over studs and replace washers nuts. Spray the chloride free glass cleaner, or a plain substitute of rubbing alcohol, on soft non-abrasive cloth sponge. Install all five of the acorn bolts and washers.
Using a little soap and water on my hand I gently clean it dry with soft cloth. The shield will tend to rock first time as u-nuts collapse into their new bracket. Install two acorn bolts and washers in the outboard holes. It is especially important for mirror-polish stainless steel that cleaning tools and materials be completely non-abrasive.
OK, you don't have one. The shield has two purposes, one is to reflect heat from exhaust manifold down, and other cover what I call, ugly black hole. Our material is the same used on fancy 18 Wheeler's you see road. It is recommended that these nuts they may be brass treated with penetrating oil.
Carefully remove the covering and reinstall.
