Not cheap aftermarket parts. This cap looks identical to an original 1969 gas but does not have one feature which was the single rod type closing mechanism. One used 1969 Mustang Ford service part flip down spring loaded gas cap. No looseness.

The Teri bar horse red,white, and blue stripe looks fine but has some loss of red color at bottom. Purchase of the 1969 Mustang gas cap includes original vintage Ford box. Fords solution was to offer a better securing spring loaded flip down cap and or with chain secured separate screw thin flat double security prevent gas spillage. Therefore, you would not see this cap originally installed from the factory on your dealer purchased 1969 Mach 1 sports roof.

The emblem is tight to cap and hinge are base. The back side of gas cap looks great and gasket is in tact. This was one of these rare times. Ford rarely discontinued parts and then many years later brings it back.

The flip down spring loaded gas cap operates excellent with no problems. The gas cap is in great condition with normal wear and use. Its not brand new but the chrome is still extremely nice, bright and shiny with no flaking,chipping, bubbling, fading, rust, or discoloration. See picture.

This was a early 1990ford reissue safety gas cap with spring loaded closing mechanism instead of the original 1969 single rod type. This type gas cap offered for sale on is a rare Ford release in the early 1990 's. The original 1969 Mustang flip down gas caps had a tendency to open suddenly without notice causing gasoline spill out over bumper.

Original Ford parts built better, fit look last longer and add value to your car.
